I'm taking a break again because of the heat, and miscellaneous health stuff.
This was to be my first week of half marathon training.
On Tuesday morning the 16th, it was 73 degrees with 70% humidity, and I was running mostly without direct sunlight because I got out early. It was fairly comfortable.
I took some walk breaks, and from what I remember, I did ok. Still not back to my previous training paces on a consistent basis, but I'm able to run again.
The rest of the week was a loss because of the heat.
Work is crazy stressful because of the amount of paper work, early morning hours and a 6 day work week.
I'm still waiting on doctor appointments and test results. I should know more by the middle of next week now. I have to have some more blood work done.

It sounds like a lot is going on right now and I'm sure your injuries are extremely frustrating for you. At least you've done the MRI and hopefully this will be the start of your recovery. Running right now, in this weather, is no picnic and probably unhealthy.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the break and look forward to Cow Harbor.
I'm actually glad the weather is the way it is, for me, anyway. It helps justify not getting out there so I can give myself more time.
DeleteMy sister is asking about coming down and running with me in the fall. I'm looking forward to it!
Having your sister there will definitely tempt you back to performance running. As frustrating as it is, the only way to get over these injuries is to avoid running for now. The downtime is essential. As much as I disliked taking a week off from the road recently, due to hip soreness, it was worth the hiatus.
ReplyDeleteI think the trick is to take just enough time off to heal, but not get caught up in the apathy of it all. When I started running 3-4 times a week instead of everyday, that's when I started getting faster and feeling better at the end of a run.
